“Dream * that * was still alive”
A piece I helped Broken City Lab make back in 2009 (I designed the sign). We were responding to the then-ongoing city workers’ strike, which, because nobody was mowing/landscaping city-held land, had resulted in countless “accidental meadows” around Windsor. The strike ended three days before I moved to Winnipeg, but I mostly choose to remember the city being incrementally overtaken by tall grass.

I spend most of my professional time writing and talking about other people’s work, but sometimes it goes the other way. Both of these are from texts by J.J. Kegan McFadden, the first one from the catalogue for So Many Letdowns before We Get Up… (2011, PLATFORM centre for photographic + digital arts. I just realized I didn’t post a legible image before), and the second is from an essay accompanying a visual arts supplement in the Winter 2013 “Winnipeg” issue of CV2.
